Can you put a speaker cabinet on a Crate FXT 120 watt amplifier?

Yup... the FXT does have an external speaker jack. Now as for sound, you can bet it would be bright as he||.
I don't like full range mains for guitar cabinets, but your mileage may vary.
You also need to make sure that the speaker impedance (it'll be on the speaker) is high enough for the amplifier, otherwise you can toast a head in no time.
If you just have a plain speaker cabinet, do you have to have an amp head to use it?

A speaker cant amplify the signal from your Guitar/Bass. So you have to have an amp to plug the instrument into and the speaker to output the amplified signal
